McMANUS ELECTION PICKS FOR SATURDAY, MAY 9TH
San Antonio Mayor: Trish DeBerry-Mejia is least offensive.
San Antonio City Council, District 1: The choice is between an openly homosexual man, a transgendered man who tries to appear as a woman, and a heterosexual woman who has bought into the homosexual agenda hook, line and sinker.
San Antonio City Council, District 2: No endorsement.
San Antonio City Council, District 3: No competitors
San Antonio City Council, District 4:
Phil Cortez is

San Antonio City Council, District 7: Justin Rodriguez is least offensive
San Antonio City Council, District 8: Strong endorsement for Jacob Dell

SAN ANTONIO MAYOR
Despite repeated phone calls and e-mails, Julian Castro, Diane Cibrian, Michael Idrogo and Trish Mejia chose not to appear on The Adam McManus Show on 630, KSLR.
Lauro Bustamante admitted to voting for Obama. Interestingly, as of 4 years ago, Bustamente is a convert from Catholicism to Mormonism. He thought they were friendly and wanted to get more into religion. Lauro is an attorney who specializes in divorce and custody issues.
Bustamante is not a serious candidate. He has run for 4th Court of Appeals, Texas State Senate and U.S. Congress before - all unsuccessfully.
While he emphasized education as his theme, the Mayor has no control over education. Perhaps he should run for School Board somewhere.
In 2001 Julian Castro voted to reappoint abortion doctor Morris Spector to the City Health Board. In 2001, Julian was featured in Planned Parenthood's magazine as a supporter.
In the 2001-2002 timeframe Julian voted to give several hundred of our tax dollars to the homosexual picnic.
As pro tem mayor, Julian honored Planned Parenthood at City Council.
In 2002 Julian voted to give almost $200,000 of our hotel/motel taxes to 3 homosexual arts groups. And in 2004 he again voted to give almost $200,000 of our hotel/motel taxes to 3 homosexual arts groups. Not surprisingly, the Stonewall Homosexual Democrats of San Antonio have endorsed him.
Julian's sloppy bookkeeping of his financial contributions last Mayoral election demonstrates that he is not ready to be mayor. His books were out of balance by $42,000!
Julian allowed his identical twin brother Joaquin to stand in for him on the Fiesta Parade float labeled "San Antonio Mayoral Candidates", waving to thousands of voters. If he cannot be truthful about his appearances,
why should we expect him to be truthful?
In a recent radio interview, Julian Castro was laughing at and belittling the
concerns that Christian parents have made about the
Bikini Sports Bar and Grill at 8224 Fredericksburg Road, just a stone's throw away from the San Antonio Preparatory Academy, located at 8308 Fredericksburg Road. Castro was suggesting that it wasn't a big deal.
Diane Cibrian is a strong Democrat who attended the Democrat National Convention in 2004 and actually held a sign that said "Texans Love Kennedy."
Two years ago, Cibrian voted to confirm lesbian Lynn Armstrong to the San Antonio Affirmative Action Advisory Committee. Plus, she actively sought the Stonewall Homosexual Democrats of San Antonio endorsement in 2007 when she ran for re-election to her City Council District 8 position.
Two years ago, Diane Cibrian sought the endorsement of the Stonewall Homosexual Democrats of San Antonio. This time she did not return their 13-question questionnaire nor did she attend their forum. Perhaps that's because she's trying to appear to be more conservative. I'm not buying it.
Cibrian campaigned against toll roads, then flip-flopped and voted for toll roads.
Cibrian describes her education on her campaign website by saying that she "was named a Public Service Fellow to the Harvard University John F. Kennedy School of Government's Women in Power executive program." This implies that she attended the prestigious Harvard University and was a Public Service Fellow.
Cibrian has never attended Harvard. Diane Cibrian was
interviewed by Sylvia Rincon of KABB-Fox and stormed out the interview. Watch the video until the very end. If she can't handle an interview, how's she going to handle being Mayor?
I was equally frustrated as the interviewer 2 years ago. She came on KSLR and was very rude and wouldn't let the other candidates get a word in edgewise.
Here's an overview of
UTSA Mayoral debate in which Diane Cibrian said "I will not support a vote to lower property taxes." She would later correct herself. But it's a quote that will live on.
Michael Idrogo has no phone number on his website or his filed paperwork. He occasionally sends out provocatively-titled press releases. I've responded to him, asking him to join me on the show to no avail.
I called his mother, Angelica Idrogo of Bradfield Properties in the Stone Oak area and asked her if she could give me his number or get him a message and she hung up on me. Michael has run for mayor ever since I can remember when I moved here in 1997. He rarely speaks out on media outlets or attends candidate forums.
Napoleon Madrid, the founder of a non-profit, was focuses exclusively on the "corruption of city hall" but never quantified what he meant.
When Madrid appeared on my show, he admitted to voting for Obama for President and, while claiming to be a "Christian minister," defended the homosexual agenda and agreed with all of the Stonewall Homosexual Democrats of San Antonio's agenda. He has worked with the Church of Christ as a volunteer. He has invested $3,000 in his candidacy and raised none.
Sheila McNeil is the Mobility Transportation Organization Chairwoman and thus is pro-tolls.
Watch this video in which she inaccurately claims the average homeowner outside 281 North makes $300,000 and thus can afford to pay for tolls. Actually, only 12% of people in District 10 make over $100,000.
Sheila admitted to voting for Obama and there was concern about her flying up to the Obama inauguration at taxpayer expense since she coupled it with a meeting of so-called San Antonio City business.
Sheila voted for a pro-abortion candidate Jill Rips of the San Antonio Health Advisory Board. Plus, she said that the pro-abortion Planned Parenthood organization was a "good outreach group." When I asked her if she would like to see Roe v. Wade overturned, she said, "No comment."
And Sheila supports free needle exchanges for drug addicts in an attempt to lower the spread of HIV/AIDS although it gives the clear impression that the government is sanctioning illicit drug use.
Sheila voted for $1 million for pro-homosexual arts groups in San Antonio like the Esperanza Peace and Justice Center which featured a homosexual pornographic film festival.
Trish DeBerry-Mejia -- Partner, Guerra, DeBerry, Coody: Marketing and Communications. Political campaigns have included work for Bush/Cheney in 2000, the National Republican Party, National Republican Senatorial Committee, Jeb Bush for Governor campaign, Rick Perry for Governor Campaign, and the Henry Bonilla Campaign, these campaigns with a general emphasis on Hispanic voters. DeBerry-Mejia has also worked on public relations for the "No Child Left Behind" Bush strategy and the Bush White House Initiative on Education.
I disagree with DeBerry-Mejia's willingness to advocate for every single bond proposal that comes down the pike.
Plus, her firm has received a big $68,000 from the Regional Mobility Authority to fight Terri Hall's website
281OverpassesNow.com with a pro-toll website called
411on281.com. She could not possibly be neutral on this issue if elected Mayor. DeBerry-Mejia would use her power to stack the deck at the Metropolitan Planning Organization or MPO.
Plus, I'm concerned that DeBerry-Mejia would not recuse herself from voting on issues that would come before the City Council where she had a clear conflict of interest. Her bread is buttered on both sides.
Previously, I endorsed Carroll Schubert, a pro-life, anti-homosexual agenda Christian, fiscal conservative for Mayor. He was third in the Phil Hardberger/Julian Castro/Carroll Schubert Mayoral race of 2005. Schubert has given $1,000 to Trish DeBerry-Mejia.
Look at the 7th paragraph in this Express-News article.
I guess I shouldn't be surprised that Schubert would not endorse his former rival Julian Castro who came in second in the run-off of 2005. Cibrian has tried to align herself with Hardberger, as the heir apparent. But don't forget that Schubert also endorsed Hardberger in the run-off of 2005 against Castro.
While she is a devout Catholic who is pro-life and opposes the homosexual agenda, Julie Oldham is not a serious candidate. She makes little sense. Her statements appear to be one non-sequiter. She claimed on my talk show that she makes heads roll at City Hall - whatever that means.
Oldham claimed that there was corruption involved in the PGA deal. When I pressed her on that, she couldn't get specific. This is her fourth run for San Antonio Mayor.
Rhett Smith is perhaps the candidate that makes the least sense. He has run for Senate, Congress, and Mayor. I'm sure I'm forgetting some other races. He claims that he is the champion of the First Amendment, yet he makes the odd assertion that Pastor John Hagee of Cornerstone Church hurts the First Amendment. You might disagree with Pastor Hagee on the end times or his preaching style, but we can all agree on one thing - Pastor Hagee celebrates the First Amendment for goodness sake.
Smith is in lockstep with the homosexual agenda. The other thing that is problematic is that he rarely answers a direct question. He'd like to give Child Protective Services more power to take children away from their parents and he hates "Zionism."
SAN ANTONIO CITY COUNCIL,
DISTRICT 1
Photo of transgendered San antonio City Council candidate "Ruby Mae" Krebs
Here's an excerpt:
QSanAntonio: "Are running as an openly gay candidate?"
Forbrich: "Yes. I am openly gay and make no attempt to appear otherwise, but I don't think that the issue will really come up in this election. I think it's important that the city be completely fair minded in its hiring practices for not only for sexual orientation, but also gender expression and gender identity."
Chris Forbrich is an open homosexual and "Ruby Mae" Krebs is a transgendered man who has tried to appear as a woman for 6 years. Krebs is in favor of homosexual marriage
Forbrich has raised $16,000 and has personally invested $2,500. krebs has invested $127.16 and has raised no money.
Forbrich has been on the board of the Stonewall Homosexual Democrats of San Antonio and is in favor of medical benefits for homosexual line-in lovers for city employees. Krebs is also in favor of such benefits.
While Forbrich has been endorsed by the Stonewall Homosexual Democrats of San Antonio, Krebs has been endorsed by a transgendered group known as
San Antonio Gender Association.
Forbrich was raised Baptist and Krebs is Jewish.
Neither candidate believes Roe v. Wade should be overturned.
Mary Alice Cisneros, the wife of the former San Antonio Mayor Henry Cisneros, refused to appear on KSLR, although she actively sought the endorsement of the Stonewall Homosexual Democrats of San Antonio.
San Antonio Current article on District 1

SAN ANTONIO CITY COUNCIL,
DISTRICT 2
Byron Miller refused to appear on KSLR. Plus, there is some concern about whether he actually lives in the district. He claims he sleeps at his business sometimes.
Dan Martinez admitted to having voted for Obama and attends St. Benedicts Catholic Church. He has been married for 50 years, has 2 children and 3 grandchildren.
Martinez returned the Stonewall Homosexual Democrats of San Antonio questionnaire and attended their forum.
Bryant Livingston, a pastor at New Light Baptist, admitted to having voted for Obama. He has been married twice and has 6 children/stepchildren.
Livingston returned the Stonewall Homosexual Democrats of San Antonio questionnaire and had a representative attend their forum.
Ron Wright has been married 17 years and has 3 daughters. Despite studying theology at Abilene Christian University, Wright admitted to having voted for Obama. Wright was the Chief of Staff for former City Council District 2 rep Joe Williams. Wright is smart and well-spoken.
Wright attended the Stonewall Homosexual Democrats of San Antonio forum.
Ivy Taylor just celebrated her 10th wedding anniversary and has a daughter and step-son. She is a member of Greater Corinth Baptist Church and went to Yale University and UNC-Chapel Hill. She is on equal footing with Ron Wright. Although she grew up in a Pentecostal Holiness Church, she has moved left. She and her husband own 16 homes which they rent out. A number of their tenants use Section 8 money to pay for some or all of their rent.
While Taylor is against homosexual marriage, she is open to homosexual adoption. She supports abortion on demand. Thinks medical benefits for homosexual live-in lovers of city employees is okay. She returned the Stonewall Homosexual Democrats of San Antonio questionnaire.
Taylor worked for the city in the housing and community development department for 6 years.
Taylor is endorsed by Young Democrats, Sierra Club and the Express-News.

SAN ANTONIO CITY COUNCIL,
DISTRICT 3
There is only one candidate.
----------------------------------------------
SAN ANTONIO CITY COUNCIL,
Adolfo Segura
Phil Cortez lied about having completed his degree, when in fact he did not have a degree. And he refused to appear on KSLR.
My conversation with Adolfo Segura on KSLR was the most bizarre I have had in 20 years of talk radio. He bragged about juggling 4 girlfriends - none of whom knew about the others.
This 31-year-old "network administrator" admitted to a "checkered past, a colorful past" of being a computer hacker who modified viruses from the time he was 14 until just recently. When I asked what motivated him to be a computer hacker, he replied that he wanted to inflict global mayhem, that it was a "power trip" in order to have bragging rights.
Segura admits that he has not raised any money and has invested $160 to file and to purchase voter lists. He lives at home with his parents. His father is a retired welder with Zachry and his mother previously worked for a florist. Segura pays $150 rent/month and $40/week for food.
He attends St. Leonard's Catholic Church on Christmas and Easter, while his parents attend the more conservative St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
He admitted that statistically he is not going to win.
---------------------------------------------
Lourdes Galvan and David Medina did not appear on KSLR, although David's mother tried to arrange it a couple of times. She was not able to find a time slot that worked.
John Garcia attends St. James Catholic Church and supports the agenda of the Stonewall Homosexual Democrats of San Antonio. He has received the endorsement from the Young Democrats and did admit to voting for Obama.
Garcia has invested $2,500 and raised $15,000. He owns an insurance business.
David Medina is a Christian who is pro-life and anti-homosexual agenda. I interviewed him 2 years ago when he ran for the first time and I was impressed.
Eiginio Rodriguez is a retired fireman who attends Holy Rosary Catholic Church, is a Democrat and admitted to voting for Obama. He's invested $700 and raied $2,000.
Ray Zavala spent $50 on paperwork and is using 1,000 signs from a previous run for City Council. Zavala admits to voting for Obama, is a member of the Knights of Columbus and attends St. Ann's Catholic Church.

SAN ANTONIO CITY COUNCIL,
DISTRICT 6
Anna Caballero refused to come on my show.
Koi Smith is a 19 year-old college student who declined to come on my show because he said he was writing a term paper and didn't have time to make any campaign appearances. Then why are you running Koi?
Ray Lopez never responded to my e-mails or calls.
Marc Zabriskie has neither an e-mail address nor a phone number. I wonder how his supporters get a hold of him?
-----------------------------------------------
SAN ANTONIO CITY COUNCIL,
DISTRICT 7
Both Elena and Justin refused to appear on my show.
Robert Garibay, an 18-year-old college freshman at NW Vista College, joined me for an hour in studio. He hopes to go to UTSA. He's majoring in criminal justice. His parents are divorced and have been for 16 years. The last time he saw his father, Robert was 8. He lives with his mother, a Continental Airlines customer services rep, and maternal grandparents who are 86 and 80. He eventually wants to run for Congress.
Garibay is against tolls, voted for Obama and wants more policemen to be hired.
Garibay invested $150 and raised $400.
Says that Rodriguez has missed 116 votes.
Garibay agreed with all 13 of the questions asked by the San Antonio Homosexual Democrats of San Antonio..
Garibay goes to St. Dominic's Catholic Church on Christmas and Easter and follows Joel O'Steen. Said that he liked "his show" but finally admitted that "I don't make my decisions based on my faith."
The pro-abortion group the
National Organization for Women endorsed Elena Guajardo in 2004. She was the only one running for San Antonio City Council to get such an embarrassing endorsement:
----------------------------------
SAN ANTONIO CITY COUNCIL,
DISTRICT 8
Juan Davila and Melissa Martinez did not respond to my invitation to appear.
While Mike Berlanga, a real estate broker, attends Community Bible Church and quoted Proverbs 3:5-6 as the motivation for his decision to run, I was not impressed with his grasp of the issues.
Plus, a caller prompted Berlanga, who is in his second marriage, to admit he has been separated from his second wife for 9 months now. They have been married for 12 years and are in counseling now.
Berlanga is a former Catholic and voted for McCain for President in the general election and didn't vote in the primary. He opposes the homosexual agenda and would like to see Roe v. Wade overturned.
Jacob Dell, a professor at UTSA, has been married for 7 years and has 3 children - 5, 4 and 1. He was the only one among ALL the candidates in ALL the races combined who had actually read through the 800-page, $2.3 billion San Antonio City budget.
Dell said that right now only 66 cents of every dollar goes to basic services like fire, police and EMT. He would like to get that number up to 85 cents of every dollar. Raised Catholic, Dell attends St. Francis and is a true fiscal and social conservative. He opposes homosexual marriage, and would like to see Roe v. Wade overturned.
To his IMMENSE credit, Dell voted for Huckabee in the primary. Wow! That's pretty impressive. And in the general election, he voted for McCain.
Dell lost the election 2 years ago to Diane Cibrian by a lousy 22 votes. Just 22 votes!! So, remember EVERY VOTE COUNTS!
Jody Sherrill attended Wheaton College and served in the Army for 20 years before serving on the San Antonio Zoning Commission for 6 years as well as the Open Spaces Advisory Board. Married to his wife for 35 years, they have 2 children.
Sherrill is an elder at Alliance Bible Church, coached Little League and has taught Vacation Bible School. He voted for McCain in the primary and McCain the general election.
Close call between him and Dell. Dell gets my endorsement because he has read the budget and seems to have a firmer grasp on what needs to be done in order to hit the ground running.
Reed Williams served in the Army, attended UT Austin, and ultimately became an Executive Vice President in the oil refinery business after 33 years. He is married to his 2nd wife. Plus, he says he is pro-life with the exception of rape, incest and life of the mother.
Williams voted for McCain in the primary and McCain in the general election.
Williams is an Epicopalian, but has not found a church yet since he moved back to San Anrtonio.

SAN ANTONIO CITY COUNCIL,
DISTRICT 9
Elisa Chan refused to appear on KSLR.
Weston Martinez professed faith in Christ at the age of 14 and has served in a leadership capacity at Harvest Fellowship with Pastor John Cannon.
In addition to handing out signs at the San Antonio Life Chain in October where Christians hold signs that say Abortion Kills Children, Jesus Forgives and Heals and Adoption: The Loving Option, Martinez has been a part of the Majella Society which funds TV and radio ads reaching out with a pro-life message to the abortion-minded pregnant young women.
Martinez favors the construction of a nuclear power plant to meet San Antonio's energy needs.
Martinez voted for Huckabee in the primary and McCain in the general election. Plus, he is against homosexual marriage and against tolls.
Unlike Davidson, Martinez opposes free needle exchange for drug addicts out of a concern that the government should not turn a blind eye from illicit, illegal drug use.
Presidential candidate Mike Huckabee issued this endorsement of Weston Martinez:
"Weston is an outstanding individual and the right person to help lead San Antonio in the years ahead. Weston Martinez understands that as the City of San Antonio grows, it must have leaders that understand and are prepared to put in place fiscal responsibility and true accountability. Weston understands that tax relief is fundamental to growth in San Antonio. Homes and all taxable property must be valued more accurately.
"He also understands that public safety is the most important issue for the City of San Antonio and your safety is ensured when law enforcement, fire, and all emergency services are adequately trained, equipped and prepared to protect the public when called upon.
"Please be sure to vote for Weston Martinez, an outstanding candidate for San Antonio City Council - District 9. Ask your family and friends to vote for Weston. Thank you for your help. I know I can count on you to do the right thing and elect Weston Martinez."
William Davidson, whom I -- Adam McManus -- endorsed in 2001, is a member of Community Bible Church where he has been attending for 7 years. He is also pro-life, anti-toll and anti-homosexual marriage.
Davidson is against a nuclear power plant being built and supports a free needle exchange in order to stem the tide of HIV/AIDS among drug users.
Davidson voted for McCain in the primary and McCain in the general election.
In addition to refusing to appear on KSLR, Elisa Chan has openly said she supports the special rights given to homosexuals by City Manager Sheryl Sculley. Plus Chan has given money to Hillary Clinton - a pro-abortion Democratic presidential candidate -- and the Democratic Party on November 7, 2006.
Chan is backed by big developers who give the max of $500 each pay period to avoid the $500 ceiling.
Chan has over $20 million dollars in city contracts, according to the Express News, which would indicate clear conflicts of interest.
In a March forum hosted by the League of Women Voters, Elisa Chan came out in favor of embryonic stem cell research which creates human life for the expressed purpose of killing it in order to harvest embryonic stem cells.
She uses the name "Wan Yu Chan" when giving to the Democrats like Hillary Clinton and uses the name "Elisa Chan" when giving to the Republicans. Looks like she has no core values and is trying to have her cake and eat it too.
Most of her so-called "supporters" are outside District 9 and some outside of Texas.
Indeed, I believe Chan is the WORST choice for San Antonio City Council District 9. No thinking Christian, who has the facts, could possibly vote for Elisa Chan.
Don't be fooled by all the Chan mailers and the billboards.
--------------------------------------
SAN ANTONIO CITY COUNCIL,
DISTRICT 10
Robert Yanez
Robert Yanez had bad numbers on his application form so I was unable to reach him.
John Clamp is one of the few fiscal conservatives on the San Antonio City Council, prompting him to cut the tax rate twice. Along those lines, he supports Texas Senate Bill 700 which would reform the property appraisal process so we wouldn't be taxed as much.
Clamp is a member of Northwest Presbyterian Church, having converted from Catholicism. He rejects the homosexual agenda outright and is pro-life.
Clamp is on his second marriage and has been married for 8 years.
Clamp has been endorsed by the San Antonio Express-News, the San Antonio Board of Realtors, the San Antonio Police Officers' Association and the San Antonio Professional Firefighters Assoc.
I wish Clamp had taken the bull by the horns and challenged City Manager Sheryl Sculley last February when she unilaterally granted special rights in the San Antonio City Charter to homosexuals on the basis of their deviant behavior. She does not have the authority to do that on her own. It is only within the power of the City Council to vote that up or down. We approached Clamp and asked him to speak out and, after months of dragging his feet, he declined.
Even if he didn't have the votes to win that battle, it would have been the right thing to do.
Branden Moore, 26, is single and works for his family telephone business. Interestingly, Moore voted for Ron Paul in the presidential primary.
Moore has raised $50 and invested $750.
Moore is against toll roads, became Catholic 2 months into his service in Iraq and has been endorsed by the Young Democrats. He served 8 years in the military.
Moore thinks we should beef up Cellular on Patrol in neighborhoods.
Jeff Carruthers, who owns his own screen printing and embroidery business, voted for the Libertarian Presidential candidate Bob Barr.
He's concerned with litter control, graffiti control. He's raised $100 and invested $250.
Carruthers was uncomfortable discussing issues related to God, implying that it wasn't relevant.
Carruthers is on his second marriage, married 8 years now with one child. Carruther is against toll roads
